Francine Fimbel (Managing Partner)

Francine Fimbel was born in Mulhouse in 1965 and grew up in the Alsace region. She passed her Baccalauréat and subsequently became a Chartered Accountant BTS CGE. Thereafter, she studied at Grenoble University and attended lectures for the Diplome d’Etude Comptable Supérieur for two years. She gained her first practical experience in a medium-sized accounting firm company in France. As from 1989 she continued her professional career in Switzerland, first at Mr. Madörin senior’s accounting firm, and since 1998 at artax’s predecessor “Treuhandbüro Dr. iur. Bernhard Madörin”.

In 2000, Francine Fimbel became partner at artax Fide Consult AG. She has continually attended further training, and her core topics include, among classic accounting tasks, taxes and audit – she is a Licensed Auditor RAB. Cross-border social security issues also belong to Francine Fimbel’s areas of expertise, and she advises our clients in French and German

At artax Fide Consult AG, Francine Fimbel holds a senior management role, is responsible for the internal organization as well as for our trainee and apprenticeship programs. She has been on our board of directors since 2004, and has become its chairwoman in 2014. Since the beginning of 2019 she acts as managing director of artax Fide Consult AG.

Bernhard Madörin

Dr. iur. Bernhard Madörin was born in 1959 and grew up in Basel. After successfully completing secondary school, he studied law at the University of Basel and obtained a doctorate in tax law. He gained his first professional experience between 1983 and 1998 as an employee and later partner in his father's fiduciary office. In 1998 he has set up his own accounting office, "Treuhand Dr. iur. Bernhard Madörin". From 2000, as a partner and long-standing CEO, he built up and shaped artax group and, as a tax and fiduciary expert, held overall responsibility for the areas of taxation, law, audit and corporate consulting.

In addition to tax law, Bernhard Madörin's areas of expertise include strategic and operational management. In this executive role, he was involved in over 50 companies as a member of the Board of Directors or Managing Director, in particular from 2010 to 2017 in what was probably his most prominent mandate at IWB Industrielle Werke Basel (Basel’s public utility service). In addition to his work as a fiduciary, Bernhard Madörin has always been involved in a wide range of activities: He regularly gave lectures, is the author of a large number of publications, besides numerous professional books also two crime novels and, together with a doctor friend, a non-fiction book on traditional Chinese medicine, and has been politically active as a member of the Basel-Stadt cantonal legislature from 1999 to 2006.

At the end of April 2024, Bernhard Madörin has largely handed over his operational role to his successors. However, he will remain an artax partner, will continue to support selected clients in the area of his executive mandates with a reduced workload, and also remains available to us as an experienced advisor.

Urs Fischer

lic.rer.pol. Urs Fischer was born in Basel in 1977 and grew up in Basel-Land. After high school graduation, where he majored in math and science, he spent a college exchange year in the United States and then studied business and economics at the University of Basel, majoring in finance. He completed his studies in 2002 with a masters (lic.rer.pol.) degree. For his diploma thesis he developed and implemented an employee share ownership program for a privately held IT company.

During his studies, Urs Fischer worked for an Internet service provider where, among other tasks, he was advisor to the CEO on business matters and was eventually involved in the sale of the company to a publicly listed corporation.

He gained further professional experience working for one of the Big Four audit companies and in the Economic Research department at a major Swiss bank. After graduation he first worked in an internal finance position for six years, as Head Finance and Legal for an IT service provider with around 30 employees. In 2009 he changed into the accounting sector and has taken a role as mandate manager at artax group. In 2012 he became partner.

Urs Fischer is VAT Specialist STS, Payroll Administrator STS and Licensed Auditor RAB. His core competencies include taxation for individuals and corporations in the international context, as well as VAT. He advises our clients in English and German, and is responsible for the liaison and cooperation with our Morison Global partner firms worldwide.

Fabian Egger

Fabian Egger (*1987) was born and grew up in Basel. After completing his commercial diploma he started his career at artax Fide Consult AG and, beside his first practical experience, earned a federal vocational baccalaureate. After becoming a  Certified Accounting Clerk and completing the  three-year higher education for Certified Finance and Accounting Specialist in 2014, he continued to become a Certified Fiduciary Expert and graduated from this advanced education in 2021.Fabian Egger has been working at artax since 2006. He has begun as an intern and spent all his career steps – from junior associate to engagement manager – in our firm. Through this long-term relationship with us, he was able to influence many of our current structures and processes. Fabian Egger became partner in 2017.

Through his extensive training Fabian Egger is a demanded advisor in the areas of accounting, controlling and consolidation. Payroll administration in both a national and international context is another focus of his work. Through his qualification as Licensed Auditor RAB he can bring in another view into his accounting mandates. He advises our clients mainly in German. Fabian Egger is responsible for the operation of our internal IT systems and is also head of our anti-money-laundering compliance team.

Michael Hasler (Partner emeritus)

Michael Hasler was born in Colombo (Sri Lanka) in 1958 and spent his first childhood years in Sri Lanka, Japan and in Australia. After 1966, he lived in the canton of Aargau and attended schools there until his high school graduation. Due to this he grew up bilingual (English and German).

After a year in which he worked, travelled and did his military service, Michael Hasler enrolled at University of St. Gallen (HSG) and studied business and economics. After successfully passing the intermediate exams, he gained practical experience and first worked at KPMG and later at STG (Schweizerische Treuhandgesellschaft). During this time, he gained insight into audit, and increasingly took an interest in the fiduciary sector. He increased his expert knowledge by becoming a Certified Fiduciary Specialist (Treuhänder mit eidg. Fachausweis) in 1992. During the subsequent years, he worked for a number of small and medium-sized firms, became self-employed as an accountant, and supported his clients mainly in accounting and taxation matters.

Since 2003 Michael Hasler has been a mandate manager at artax Fide Consult AG, and has become partner in 2012. He is a Licensed Audit Expert RAB, and among his focus areas are taxation (mainly international taxation of individuals and tax at source), audit and consolidations.

In July 2023 Michael Hasler has retired and given up his partner role. He continues to support selected clients on a part-time basis.
